Baptism

On Sunday, June 15th, Ben got to celebrate his first Father's day while celebrating Alex and Olivia's baptism. They were baptized at St. Mary's Church in Simsbury. Our families came in to town to celebrate with us which was really nice. My parents, Ben's parents, and my brother were all in town for the event.

Olivia wore the same gown that I wore when I was baptized. Alex wore the oufit that my brother wore when he was baptized.

My brother, Dave, is the godfather, and our friend Jen Zink is the godmother of the kids. Unfortunately, Jen was unable to travel to be with us for the ceremony, so my friend Keri graciously acted as a stand-in godmother. There were a total of four babies being baptized. Alex was the only boy - - so he was hanging out with all the ladies! Alex and Olivia were very well behaved during the entire ceremony and did not even cry when water was poured on their heads. Here are some pictures from the day.

Olivia Update

Since I did a post on Alex, and I want to treat each of them equally, I now have to do a post updating everyone on the adventures of Olivia.

Over the last month we have continued to struggle with Olivia while feeding her. Sometimes she is as fast as 15 minutes, and other times it can be an hour to feed her! At times I think it is related to her acid reflux as sometimes we might be putting too much cereal in her bottle that all the sucking puts her to sleep. But most of the time I think she just gets distracted and becomes interested in other things (the tv is a favorite of her's these days), and sometimes she just outright falls asleep while being fed.....

Also, over the last month, Olivia has discovered her voice. She talks a lot once she gets going and especially if you talk back to her. Here is a video of Olivia keeping me and Ben company while we ate dinner tonight (Alex was sleeping at the time).

Finally, Olivia has started to grab and hold on to things. Here is her grabbing on to one of the toys on her bouncy seat. If you put a toy in her hand, she will hold on to it for a little bit as well.

The Adventures of Alex & His Thumb!

I apologize for not posting much lately, but it seems like we have been so busy that there has not been much time over the last month. So you will see a couple of different posts go up at once to make up for lost time!

Over the last month Alex has discovered his thumb! He has found that if (and that is a big "if") he gets it in his mouth that it is very fun to suck on and it is very soothing (potentially more soothing than the pacifier!). I took him to see my coworkers about a month ago and that was the first time he found his thumb. He now knows it exists but cannot always seem to get it in his mouth. Most of the time that he tries to get it in his mouth his thumb is tucked under his other fingers and he really has no shot at succeeding.

He has managed to find his thumb and suck on it about 5 times, and we have captured a few with pictures.
