Ben and I woke up on Christmas morning at 7 a.m. (Alex & Olivia were still sleeping) to no power in our house. Alex & Olivia both started stirring around 7:30 so we got them up, but decided to keep them in their pajamas to stay warm since we had no heat. Although that did not last long as I soon realized that Alex peed through his pjs during the night. But we did find something else warm for him. Luckily we had some ready made formula around the house so we did not have to open the refrigerator to get their bottles that we had made the night before.
Ben's parents said they heard a lot noise earlier in the morning and thought that a transformer blew causing us to have no power. I called the electric company just in case they were not aware. Their first indications was that it would be turned back on around 11:30, then the next estimate was 2:30 - - YIKES! What were we to do with no power, no heat, and no water until 2:30!!!
Luckily we have a gas fire place in the living room so we used that to keep warm and we went about our morning of opening presents. Alex and Olivia since they had practice with Grandma and Grandpa Krausman were a little more into opening their presents. Olivia especially enjoyed playing with the tissue paper. But once the first new toy was opened.....there was no more opening presents by the kids since they were so interested in their new toy!
Ben got me a set of mixing bowls for Christmas (don't worry, I did ask for them!)....so as I opened them, I let Olivia play with the big one since she was so curious about them. Within a few minutes she spit up right in the bowl. Nothing ended up on the floor, it was a perfect shot for the bowl! So I think Olivia designated which bowl we will be using when the kids are older and they don't feel well! Every home has to have a "puke bowl".
Luckily the power came back on around 12, so we were able to start the preparation of our Christmas brunch which included a delicious egg, ham, and cheese casserole which is a recipe I receive from my friend Danielle (Thanks Danielle!!!).
Here is Alex modeling the new t-shirt that he got from Santa in his stocking! Olivia got the same one, but has not had the chance to wear it yet.
If you look closely at Alex's smile, you will notice that he now had one tooth that has popped up. Olivia now has two that have broken through the skin. So I suppose you could say she got her 2 front teeth for Christmas!
Even though we had no power, no heat, and no water for several hours of Christmas, it made it an extra special first Christmas with Alex and Olivia that we will remember forever.

Awwww....What amazing Christmas memories to remember from the kids' FIRST Christmas!!! I especially love the fart, the puke, and the bedtime story time. :) How special. I love the updates and all of the photos!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS, Jarboe Family!!!!!
Yes I know it's a good thing I don't have twins. I was at the grocery store today cramming as much stuff in there around Jeremy. Plus I bring my own bags to the store so I had those in the cart as well. I know it's time to check out when there isn't a spot left for food. I was wondering how you go shopping? Do you go by yourself to the store or do you make it a family outing? A friend of ours as triplets around your kids age and they have a 2 year old. I can't even imagine how to manage that.
I must admit I am jealous that your kids are old enough to open presents and play with the toys. It sounds like you guys had a great Christmas and will laugh about it for many years. I love how Olivia was sitting on top of the presents trying to open them. Babies are the best entertainment.
Alex looks very handsome in his Purdue shirt. Are you guys going to get Olivia a Purdue cheerleader outfit? She would look pretty much adorable in one of those.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the updates on your blog! It looks like you had a very special Christmas with the kids! It only gets better . . .
I will also ditto Brooke that the fart was a hilarious highlight. He was just making a joyful noise unto the Lord, right?
